Mickey and Minnie Halloween Tablescape – No “Bones” About It?

Mickey and Minnie Celebrate Halloween

Welcome to Mickey and Minnie’s Halloween Tablescape!! If you have been following my website you may recognize these plates and flatware, mugs, and goblets, from my other Mickey & Minnie tablescapes. I have been doing a series of holiday tablescapes using the Sketchbook dishes by Zrike, and the flatware from shopdisney.com to see if it is possible to do very unique tablescapes for different holidays without having to buy new plates. I think all of us who love tablescapes have a bit of a challenge finding space for our various dishes. I am hoping that this series will open up a world of holiday tablescapes to all of us who are running out of storage space.

Because We Are Known as the “Skeleton House” …

In our neighborhood, we are known as the “skeleton” house because we have done skeleton scenes in our front yard since Covid19, and these skeleton scenes usually change each week during the month of October. We have done water-skiing skeletons, Astros baseball skeletons, and Aggie tailgate skeletons, to name a few. So it seemed fitting that our Mickey and Minnie Halloween Tablescape would feature Mickey and Minnie in skeleton outfits. To see some more of our scenes and stories, click on any of the following – Choosing a World for Your Skeletons … and Astros Skeletons Thrill and Chill… and Astros Skeletons-Held Over by Popular Demand.

The Mickey and Minnie are called “Greeters” or “Porch sitters”. I often use these “greeters” or other Disney plush animals as the centerpieces in my tablescapes. They are sold in various stores for different holidays, including Hobby Lobby, Homegoods and CVS. (btw, if you happen to know other places that carry them, please let me know – I love it when I can find them nearby where I don’t have to pay shipping). However, when I don’t have luck in the stores, I check out eBay, as I love the many choices they have. This year there were the following Halloween Mickey and Minnie’s available on eBay.

The Plate Stack

In each of my Mickey and Minnie tablescapes, I have used plates from the Sketchbook set by Zrike. They are available at times from Homegoods and often from eBay as well. For this tablescape I also used a black dinner plate. I have purchased black dinner plates from both the old Pier 1, and from Dollar Tree. I like the way the black plate, makes the Sketchbook plate stand out while also giving a Halloween look to the table.

The plate stack started with a lime green scalloped placemat from Homegoods that was purchased this past spring. This was my first time to use colors other than orange, black, yellow and white in a Halloween Tablescape. I really enjoy the bright purple and green in Mickey and Minnie’s costumes, so I had fun incorporating those in the rest of the tablescape. Have you experimented with other colors than the traditional ones in your Halloween decorations? What are your favorite colors to work with?

I placed a black dinner plate on top of the placemat.

Then I added a Sketchbook salad/dessert plate to the top of the stack. I have 5 different characters (see below) on my Sketchbook plates, though for this tablescape I only used 4 of the 5.

Breakfast at the Disney Table

We were blessed to have friends from out of town with us this weekend. So the day after I set the table, we were able to enjoy the tablescape together. Our friends, Ash and Michelle are blessed with 5 grandchildren – all Disney lovers, and Michelle is starting to collect some sketchbook plates so the grandkids can enjoy a holiday Disney Table. I can’t wait to see her tablescapes, and hear about the reaction of the grandkids.

The Place Settings

Each place setting also includes Mickey Mouse icon flatware from Shopdisney.com,

as well as a Mickey or Minnie Fiqural mug, from Homegoods (these are available sporatically from Homegoods, and also on eBay),

a Lumiarc black goblet from Amazon…

and a Mickey’s Glove napkin ring that I was amazingly lucky to find on eBay.

I chose the Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Pluto plates for use on this table as they were my favorite characters when growing up.

I had planned to use purple or black napkins on the table, but as I looked thru my napkin stash, I found Halloween napkins I liked even better and didn’t remember buying.

Centerpieces and Other Table Decorations

In addition to Mickey and Minnie…

..the table includes 3 tier ligt-up pumpkin figurine from Homegoods purchased this year (2023) which sits on top of a cake stand with the base being a witch’s shoes. The cake stand is from Homegoods from about 2018.

Also, on the table are two “Mickey” and “Minnie” jack-o-lanterns pictured below on each end of the table. I just happened to find those at Homegoods this year.

In the Dining Room

I added some Disney Dept 56 Halloween figurines and a Minnie house, to my chest of drawers, to carry out the theme.

I was so excited to see this beautiful sunset as I was photographing the table. So i want to share some of the sunset pictures as well.

Welcome to the Lake! I am so glad you stopped by !!!!

Table Details and Origins for Mickey and Minnie Halloween Tablescape – No “Bones” About It?

Disney Sketch Book Dinnerware, and Serving Pieces – Zrike Brands by R squared – Homegoods (sold at various times over the last 4 years) – also available on eBay.  When searching for these plates on eBay and other websites, use “Disney Sketch Book plates” or “Disney Sketchbook plates”, or “Mickey Mouse plates” as different sellers will list them differently. This pattern also comes in a Bamboo version, which may be better for very young children.  I think any black and white Disney pattern is a good start for anyone trying to do many different holiday tablescapes with one set of Disney dishes.

Disney Flatware – Mickey mouse icon/logo – Shop Disney.com; also available at times on eBay or Etsy – in silver finish and sometimes in gold finish

Luminarc Black Wine Glasses – Amazon at least 5 years ago. Similar goblets on sale at Amazon today. search “Black Goblets”, or “Black Wine Glasses”

Department 56 Disney Halloween Minnie Mouse house and accessories – eBay, Department 56.com,, or in other stores where Department 56 Halloween village and Snow Village items are sold. Costco occasionally carries a Disney village for Halloween. Costco’s village is not made by department 56, but is also adorable!
