Inflatables
As some of you who have seen my Halloween Astros Skeleton posts may already know, I have always been a “holiday person” but that increased during Covid Quarantine, when I started the skeletons and added outdoor decorations for various holidays to entertain the many neighbors who walked past our house each day. For holidays besides Halloween, I usually start with an inflatable and am trying to add a new item each year.
In 2021, at Christmas time, I added the “Orchestra of Lights C-9 strings” along the top edge of the garage. These lights can be operated by the Orchestra of Lights app and can be changed for each holiday, and/or to any particular color. Orchestra of lights is a Gemmy product, which as of 2022, was only sold at Lowes and usually only well stocked during October. These lights require a Orchestra of Lights wifi hub to work, and are controlled by an app on your phone. They come with preprogrammed colors for each holiday and with sparkle and other effects that can be selected for each holiday. One can also select custom colors in any one color, and add “effects” to give it variety. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy not taking down lights and putting them back up. These lights have been up up since December of 2021 and I plan to keep them up indefinitely.
There have been occasional problems with the program and timer switching to a different holiday on me occasionally (possibly due to power or internet glitches) but I simply reset them on my phone, and we are back in “business”. In spite of the few “glitches” I love having the lights up all year, and I love the ease of switching to new colors for each holiday.
For Easter, I use the Easter “preset color” which includes 4 or 5 Easter related colors and I also changed the effect this year to “Starry Night” This effect as well as the Easter preset colors are shown in the video below.
I also use flood lights in my display. I use them to flood the garage/front yard wall with seasonal color that coordinates with my inflatables and any other yard decorations. I also use yellow flood lights to light up the inflatable. I use “yellow bulbs” rather than white, to light up the inflatable as yellow seems to attract less insects.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Please scroll to the bottom of this post if you would like to read the sections devoted to the details and origin of all the items used in this display.
If you enjoy Easter and Spring Indoor Decorations, and/or Lake Sunsets please check out the recent posts below.
Orchestra of Lights – C-9 strings and hub – in 2022 this was exclusive to Lowes. Not sure if or where it will be available in 2023. It is made by Gemmy.
LED Floodlights base – Lowes Floodlight fixture
Yellow floodlight bulb LED – Home Depot-for exterior lighting of the inflatables themselves (they may also be lighted internally) yellow is recommended over white for this as it attract less insects
Pink Floodlight LED bulb – Amazon
10′ Easter Train inflatable – Wayfair – I purchased mine at Amazon, but as of March 2023 it is not available there but may be available next year. Amazon does have other Easter Train inflatables if you prefer other sizes and colors (this may necessitate a change in flood light color and a change in the setting on “Orchestra of Lights”
The “Skeleton Scene” in our yard this week is a “Texas A&M – Aggie Tailgate”. …
