I was excited to see the various Peter Rabbit Dinnerware hit the stores and the tablescape blogs in the past few years. In 2020 – 2021 I decided that I would like to have a set of Peter Rabbit dinnerware for Easter, a set that I could possibly use in the Spring or Summer as well. Peter Rabbit seemed perfect to me because I remember books about him as a child, and also as an elementary school teacher!
Below are some pictures of some of the different Peter Rabbit Dishes (comparing salad type plates from 2021).
When choosing dishes, I looked at the dishes from Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Homegoods, and all were adorable. Although I loved the Homegoods Dishes, I wasn’t sure I would be able to find all the pieces I wanted there, since they don’t offer an ordering option similar to that of the other 2 stores. I loved the bold color and large rabbit of the Williams – Sonoma dishes, but the 4 different “scenes” in the salad plates at Pottery Barn convinced me they were the ones for me. I also loved the garden feel of the Pottery Barn Peter Rabbit dishes, and the green went perfectly with my Bordallo Pinheiro geranium plates, which I planned to use as Charger.
The Peter Rabbit Stories were written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, and were rare for their time, due to the quality of the stories and art work, and the fact that so many of the pages were printed in color. Add to that the fact that they were first printed in 1902 and were written and illustrated by a woman, you can assume that her life was as interesting as that of Peter Rabbit’s. For more on Beatrix Potter, this is a perfect time of year to see the “Miss Potter” movie, starring Renee Zellweger.
The rabbit centerpieces above were found at Homegoods in 2020-2021. I love the rabbits and how they look with the dishes. I did have a moment of indecision in the store, and I think I actually took them out of the cart for a minute and put them back on the shelf – all because the idea of a green coat on a Peter Rabbit, just seemed incongruous to the Beatrix story line – as most people know that Peter always had a blue coat, while Beatrix’s Benjamin Rabbit almost always had a brown coat. However, in the end, the style of the rabbits and their coats just seemed so like Peter and Benjamin Rabbit, that I had to purchase them. I guess I can always make up a new story when children come to our Easter table and tell them Peter and Benjamin got new green coats for Easter!!! Do you remember – back in the day – when an Easter dress and hat were a must for little girls, and the boys got a new outfit too? Does that still happen today?
The rabbit centerpieces above came without flowers in their baskets, and I was considering real flowers in each, but the shallowness of bunnies’ clay pots, made real flowers more challenging to arrange (although I know many wonderful bloggers who could have found a way to do it). However, with my skill set, I thought going with artificial flowers might be the best idea for me. I also added a purple butterfly to one bunny’s clay pot, and a pink butterfly to the other’s – as its seems that bunnies and butterflies just go well together.
Other items in the center of the table include the carrots in the carrot patch from Homegoods (these are actually candle holders, but I thought they looked more “garden like” without the candles – see above. In addition, three vintage Telaflora plant vases (Teleflora is like FTD – delivering flower arrangements nationwide – often in unique vases )- 2 Peter Rabbit Eggs, and one Peter Rabbit Sprinkler Can vase – gave more Easter to the tablescape. Serving pieces from both Pottery Barn and Homegoods continue to tell the Peter Rabbit stories. One of my favorite serving pieces is the Easter egg Plate, that has a ceramic Peter Rabbit as the handle.
I like to do a holiday tree, either a tall lit tree or a tabletop tree, whenever I can find ornaments. At first I was going to do just a generic Easter tree, but then when I saw the Beatrix Potter ornaments on eBay at a reasonable price, the Potter tree seemed the way to go. Can you name all her characters? I unfortunately cannot, but maybe by year 3 or so of the tree, I will be have them all identified. Interestingly, on eBay this set of 18 with shipping averaged out to less cost than the individual ornaments you could by, with shipping, X 18. I couldn’t resist this “deal”.
The plate stack is made up of Pottery Barn Peter Rabbit salad plate, on top of Pottery Barn Peter Rabbit dinner plate, on top of Bordallo Pinheiro Geranium charger, on top of Pottery Barn cork board placemat. I love the placemat because it is taller than normal (about 14″ rather than the usual 13″) which looks better with my large chargers. I also like that the pattern looks good even when the plates are in their place.
Above are some of the place settings from our table. Each is completed with a green check napkin and a “Peter Rabbit and Friends” type porcelain napkin ring. The set of napkin rings is shown below. Unfortunately they are rather rare. I have only seen them on eBay or Etsy 3 times in the past 3 years. I love that 3 of the 4 of these are not specifically “Easter” which allows them a place on a Spring Gardening Table as well.
In the rest of the Dining Room, I decorated with a lot of straw/rattan/ Sisal Rabbits from Homegoods, and the old Pier 1.
For the rest of the downstairs, I continued with the Peter Rabbit/Brown Dressed Rabbit Theme.

The Peter Rabbit tablescape is so whimsical and delightful. I have a 4.5 year old who loves Peter Rabbit. I have been reading the original stories the last 2 years to him and we are almost through with our big storybook of all the stories. His first birthday was Peter Rabbit themed, so I suppose he was destined to enjoy that naughty rabbit! Hopping (pun intended) over from the heart and soul link-up

p.s. We had Peter Rabbit wallpaper cutouts from England in my daughter’s nursery room back when she was little. I still have those cutouts glued to tag board… Thank you for the wonderful memories! Peter Rabbit is still a favorite series of books for me to read along with Holly Pond Hill, if you’ve ever heard of those stories.
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
