A Glorious Sunset on the Lake – April 15, 2023

The sunset on the lake on April 15th, 2023 ended like the above. It was a sunset I was fortunate enough to get to photograph from start to finish, and I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to share its progression with you!

The clouds in the late afternoon photo above, hinted of a glorious sunset to come.

Are you a sunset on a sunrise person? Because I am a “night owl” I am definitely more of a sunset person. I have heard it said often that sunrises are more positive – as they are the beginning of a new day, with new things to accomplish and enjoy. But I love looking at the sunset and later going to bed, feeling as if the world is a place with with amazing beauty – in spite of the things that may be leading me to feel otherwise.

As I watch a sunset I also feel that God has us in the palm of his hand. To me there is a promise in the sunset, and the sunrise and of course the rainbow.

A telephoto shot zooms in on the oranges in this sunset.

Ever since we moved to the lake, my love for sunsets have gotten even stronger. The water adds an extra dimension, and the reflection of the sunset on the lake adds to the beauty.

The birds flying “home” for the night, is a sight to see as well.

But that’s not to say the lake is the only place to see a gorgeous sunset. I have seen wonderful sunsets in a Houston suburb (unfortunately I seem to notice the gorgeous ones there when I am driving and therefore have no pictures of those to share) and many other places. If you have time, please comment on where you have seen your most memorable sunsets.

Occasionally a boat travels thru the sunset as we watch.

Wishing you many glorious sunsets and sunrises – on the lake, in the mountains, on the ocean, near your home, and anywhere else you travel!!!

If you enjoyed this post, you may also enjoy this one of a sunset earlier this month.
